State Level Science Exhibition:
After winning the 2nd prize in District level Science Exhibition, S M Abimanyu and Sooryababu R presented their science model in the State level Science Exhibition, held at Thambaram.

The students had designed a pumping mechanism of drawing water from well without using electricity. In the model, the pump functioned from the power generated by pedaling of the connected cycle. The model and the explanations provided by the students impressed the judges and the visitors alike.

We are delighted to share that this project was selected as one of the best 3 projects in the exhibition and the students will represent the State of Tamil Nadu in the National level Science Exhibition to be conducted by NCERT at New Delhi.

Congratulations! The students were guided by their science teacher Mr. R. Davakumar.
National Children Science Congress:
After winning the District level NCSC competition, the students of Tuticorin School qualified for the State level competition which was held in Dec 2013.

The participating students - Subhasini (8th std), Akash G (8th std), Kanthimathi (6th std), Pravin Kumar (7th std) and Lavanya (7th std) presented the research on the topic “Solar – an alternative energy source for cooking”.

School teacher, Mr. S. Amernath, guided the students while they were preparing the research project. Principal, Ms. Meena V helped in fine tuning the presentation and the structure of the project. This was the first time the students were participating in the State level Science competition where over 250 schools from Tamil Nadu were participating for the prize of entry to National level competition. The students were appreciated for their project, their responses to questions and for their conduct, but didn't win the coveted prize. Though this time they had to be satisfied with the consolation prize, they are determined to go further next year.

We congratulate them for doing well and wish them greater success for forthcoming years.
